THE ABOVE SCENE ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN 1925, as the first radio broadcast in Pinellas County was launched from the Fenway Hotel. In the following years, diplomats, artists, and such notables as Clarence Darrow, Carl Sandburg and Babe Ruth mingled with guests on cool autumn nights.

NOW, PICTURE SPRING 2008 as patrons see the same sunset and then head into Dunedin for dinner or go to the beaches, boating or shopping the next day as part of a group of tourists that will spend approximately $40 million yearly in the local area due to the revival of Fenway on the Bay.

The Fenway on the Bay can once again be a world-class facility that will be a destination resort creating an economic boom for the businesses of Dunedin and a sense of pride and aesthetics for its surrounding neighbors.

Please help us turn the aging Fenway into a renewed wonder. You can help us re-create history. We are dedicated to preserving the past and brightening the future for our community and all who visit here in years to come.

TOP: An original watercolor painted in the late 1920s of the Fenway on the Bay in its heyday. Note the old-style high-class red and black limousines parked near the hotel entrance.

ABOVE: A rousing game of croquet on the front lawn with many spectators—obviously a popular sport in the 1930s.
